At the same time, we have acted in a deliberate manner that aims to de-escalate the overall situation in both Eastern Syria and Iraq.”

The location struck by the US forces is believed to be the situation of a smuggling operation carried out by the militia. A US official stated that the primary goal of the operation was to thwart the militia’s capacity to hold out assaults.

The choice, Austin clarified, had been taken by the US president and authorised on Thursday morning after he really useful that motion be taken towards the militants.

Chatting with the press, Austin stated that the US was “confident in the target we went after”, including that “we know what we hit”.
