ISLAMABAD: Senate Deputy Chairperson Saleem Mandviwalla on Friday said that the Senate and the National Assembly are approved to request that any individual show up before them independent of their institutional affiliation.
Mandviwalla said he has never observed anybody declining to show up the Senate or the National Assembly at whatever point they were summoned.
“The chairperson of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) is also a civil servant, therefore, he can also be summoned by the Senate as well as the NA,” he maintained.

The Senate’s appointee administrator said bringing NAB staff before the Senate was not extraordinary as a few people had been brought in the past too and they completely complied.
“We never had to summon the NAB chairperson before but the director-general of the bureau has been summoned before,” Mandviwalla said. “It is not possible that the committee summons NAB chairperson and refuses to show up.”
He said that in the event that the NAB executive wouldn’t show up before the Senate board of trustees, at that point there were alternate approaches to manage the situation.
‘NAB kills individuals and drops their bodies at hospitals’
Speaking of the “long list of complaints related to human rights violations” that the Senate professes to have gotten against the nation’s responsibility guard dog, Mandviwalla said that the Senate will investigate the issues soon.
A few days back, Saleem Mandviwalla had said that Pakistan’s enemy of join guard dog has submitted some unmitigated basic liberties infringement, adding that the agency “kills people and drops off their bodies at hospitals”.
