Federal Minister for Science and Expertise Fawad Chaudhry stated Friday that the government-sponsored coronavirus vaccines could be obtainable to the folks of Pakistan freed from cost.

The science and expertise minister was responding to an individual’s query on Twitter.

In the meantime, in one other tweet, the science minister stated that the federal government would import 1.1 million coronavirus vaccine doses.

He clarified that whereas the federal government could be importing the vaccine, the non-public sector would even be allowed to do the identical.

When will Pakistan get the vaccine?

Parliamentary Secretary for Ministry of Nationwide Well being Companies Dr Nausheen Hamid, a day earlier, stated Pakistan is predicted to get the primary COVID-19 vaccine cargo by the top of this month.

In keeping with Radio Pakistan, Dr Hamid stated that the federal government was “urgently” drafting a database of all private and non-private medical staff to get them inoculated within the first section.

Nevertheless, the publication didn’t specify which vaccine and from which nation Pakistan would procure it.

China’s Sinopharm vaccine

Per week earlier, Chaudhry stated Pakistan would buy 1.2 million doses of coronavirus vaccine from China’s Sinopharm.

“The Cabinet Committee has decided to initially purchase 1.2 million doses of the vaccine from the Chinese company Sinopharm, which will be provided free of charge to frontline workers in the first quarter of 2021,” the science minister stated on Twitter.

Final month, China had accredited the COVID-19 vaccine developed by an affiliate of state-backed pharmaceutical big Sinopharm, its first accredited shot for normal public use.
