The Lahore Improvement Authority (LDA) on Sunday launched an operation towards unlawful development at Khokhar Palace — the residence of senior vp PML-N Lahore Saiful Malook Khokhar and MNA Malik Afzal Khokhar in Johar City.

A heavy contingent of police blocked roads resulting in the residence with containers, whereas the media was additionally barred from coming into the world the place the operation was happening.

The street from Ayub Chowk to Khokhar Palace had been sealed off and Saif Market was demolished throughout the operation. Moreover, the rear a part of two homes close to Khokhar Palace had been torn down because the district administration moved to get better authorities land in Johar City. 

The district administration claims to have relinquished 38 kanals of presidency land so removed from the Khokhar brothers. Sources revealed that the worth of the vacated land is Rs1.25bn.

The Khokhar brothers are accused of occupying the mentioned land via forgery. They’d been issued notices to evict the land by the district administration, which they repeatedly ignored.

Beforehand, the district administration had tried to conduct a clearance operation however needed to postpone it as a result of protests by the Khokhar brothers’ supporters.

An operation was carried out at this time over the non-implementation of the notices.

The Further Deputy Fee Income (ADCR) Lahore and the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Operations supervised the operation.

The reclaimed land has been transferred to the Punjab authorities, in line with sources.
