An enormous energy outage has been reported from a number of cities throughout Pakistan.

The cities dealing with disruption embody Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad, and Rawalpindi.

Inside Karachi, outages have been reported from Korangi, Defence, Backyard, Clifton, Gulistan-e-Jauhar, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, MA Jinnah Highway, II Chundrigar Highway, Liaquatabad, and FB Space.

Even the Jinnah Worldwide Airport remained with out energy.

‘NTDC strains have tripped’

A couple of minutes into the breakdown, Islamabad Deputy Commissioner Hamza Shafqaat stated that the Nationwide Transmission Despatch Firm’s strains have tripped, inflicting outage.

“It will take sometime before everything gets back to normal,” he added.

Inside minutes of the breakdown, the time period #blackout turned a prime pattern on Twitter in Pakistan with greater than 12,000 tweets.

‘Energy ministry working to resolve subject’

The prime minister’s aide on political communication Shahbaz Gill stated that he has spoken to Minister for Energy Omar Ayub and “his entire team is working to resolve the issue”.

“We will update you soon, InshaAllah,” he stated.

Energy minister explains subject

Ayub, in his personal assertion on Twitter, stated that the “frequency in the power distribution system suddenly dropped from 50 to 0 which caused the blackout”.

“We are trying to ascertain what caused the drop in frequency.”

Ayub stated that Tarbela “will be activated so a phase wise restoration can be carried out”.

He requested the nation to train persistence.

All of our teams have reached their respective stations. As the Minister for Power I am personally overseeing the work for restoration of power.

“We are going to preserve you up to date periodically over the progress in energy restoration,” he added.
