KARACHI: Energy outages have been reported in a number of areas of Karachi on Wednesday.
Based on Geo Information, near a dozen neighbourhoods confronted energy outages for as much as seven hours.

The areas most impacted included Malir, Gharibabad, Moinabad, Jaffar-e-Tayyar Society, Mehran Goth, Kathore, and Liaquat Market, the place residents complained of loadshedding for seven-and-a-half hours.

Furthermore, Korangi, Landhi, Gulshan-e-Maymar, Liaquatabad, F.C. Space, Orangi City, Baldia City, Banaras City, Keamari, Gadap, Saeedabad, Manzoor Colony, and Outdated Metropolis Space had no energy for 3 to 6 hours.
Sources at Ok-Electrical mentioned that whereas the demand for electrical energy in Karachi is 1,700 megawatts (MW), the town receives 800MW and 400MW energy from the nationwide grid and all different sources, respectively.

This leaves a shortfall of 500MW of electrical energy.
‘No unannounced load shedding’
“There is no unannounced or announced load shedding in Karachi,” a spokesperson for the Ok-Electrical mentioned.
“When there is a power outage, it is because maintenance work is being carried out,” mentioned the spokesperson, including: “For any repair work we do, we send a text message to the area residents in advance.”
